After days of blood, sweat and tears, your event is just around the corner. However, somehow the reach and participation is not as much as you had expected. Ever wondered what more you could do to spread the word about your event? Your teams have already prepared and posted ads, and you have spoken to your friends and that long-lost cousin of yours to create awareness, but what else is possible?
The answer is: Social Media. All of Social Media’s platforms and their features are at your service, and here are a few tips on how you can put them to good use!
#wordofmouth:
Word-of-mouth has taken on a whole new twist ever since social media
entered the marketing scene. You as an organizer can mobilize your current
attendees and followers by giving them incentive to share your event posts and
spread the word in their network. You can offer referral codes, group coupon
discounts and even exclusive content access based on how many more attendees
each invites.
*Tip: Keep track of these activities using apps to help stay on top of all that is happening.
#excited:
Create an option for attendees to share their “Registered for the
Event!” page and tag you once their registration is done. Include the event
details, like time, date, platform (in case of a virtual event platform) and venue (for
hybrid event mode), while also highlighting some key points for the event. This will
help boost engagement since people would be looking at already registered
participants and thus, be encouraged to attend as well.
In doing this, you will also be spreading brand awareness, while
bringing attention to your sponsors about how well the participation is going.
This is an excellent way to up your revenue as well.
*Tip: Repost their stories and comment on the posts you’ve been tagged in and share those comments too. This active participation from your side will give the attendees the satisfaction of feeling visible and cared about.
#seeyouagainsoon:
Upload stories, reels and posts of the fun and amazing moments from
the event after it is over. Click pictures of your attendees being engaged and
participating at the event and upload those too, and be sure to tag them if
possible. This helps create early hype for your upcoming events. Easy, isn’t
it?
*Tip: Save all these moments of past and current events in the Highlights part of your bio on Instagram. Seeing the success of your past events will raise the expectations of current attendees and also assure new ones that they will definitely have a good time.
#work-in-progress:
Shoot reels and videos along with snaps of all that went into bringing
the event together. Be authentic and post even about a few hardships and
failures, because it will make your brand relatable and garner further
appreciation for your event. Show your followers your bloopers and funny
behind-the-scene moments that will make them go #lmao ! You can even live
stream the event and the work you’re putting in. This form of participation
creates an emotional connection between you, the organizer, and the attendees,
by giving them an insider view into your brand.
*Tip: Keep in mind that short videos like reels and shorts have greater reach as compared to regular posts.
Create your own #hashtag:
Come up with your own hashtag for the brand and the event, make sure
to mention them in your bios and posts on all platforms. Hashtags are fun and
when used often, the algorithm of these platforms will increase the reach of
your posts, so be sure that your attendees know about them!
You can even engage the attendees and followers in a suggestion game for new hashtags and reward the winning ones with goodies, hampers, give-aways, coupons etc. This will also encourage your current sponsors and even bring new ones to the table.
Social Media is a great way to generate event leads and create brand awareness in general and even connect with followers and attendees, so be sure to participate, encourage and just #goforit!
